For Sketching

My go-to pad for working out new collections/products and learning new techniques.

Favorite for everyday practice. Great to use as a travel journal. The paper quality makes it a good choice for using wet media (watercolors, markers, ink, etc.) in your daily art. (great selection of sizes)

High end archival sketchbook for serious art journaling

For Watercolor

Blick Studio Watercolor Pads

Great for practice or student work (doesn’t stand up as well over time); also good for color swatching different media

Canson XL Watercolor Pads

A heavier weight paper that I like to use when producing multiple details that will later be used in surface pattern designs or product layouts.

Arches Natural White Watercolor Paper

A nicer quality paper for producing original watercolor or gouache artwork

For Acrylics

These are generally made for pastels and charcoal but can also work well for mixed media where water isn’t used. Both Canson Mi-Teintes and Fabriano Tiziano work well but their color selections and dimensions are different.

Watercolors

When it comes to watercolors, I am quite partial to tubes as I like to create my own palette from a variety of brands. I also prefer the texture of the pigments on paper. On occasion I will give pans a try but I always tend to go back to tubes.
